Introduction

This document describes the release information of thinkRF Spectraware software, version 1.4.0.4 since the last release 1.3.0. The software comes in Standalone (on-premises) distribution only; RTSA web version distribution is no longer supported.

  • RTSA users:
  • Windows: Spectraware_1.4.0.4_RTSA_Standalone_x64.exe
  • Linux: spectraware-1.4.0.4-RTSA-jammy.deb (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS) and spectraware-1.4.0.4-RTSA-noble.deb (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS)
  • SXM users:
  • Spectrum Viewer can now be opened directly from the Dashboard or the node’s Local Control Application. The installed version is no longer needed, with the usage removed.

Refer to the ‘Spectraware User Guide’ document for installation instructions and full usage details, especially the “Getting Started” section. This document is also accessible through the web GUI’s Help menu.

This version supports all thinkRF’s RTSA receivers:

  • R55x0/R57x0 products with 408/418/427 models.
  • R6000 Ethernet and USB options.
  • Note: if both connection types are set up, only the USB connection is used as USB has the exclusive priority.

New Features

  1. USB connection support for R6000.
  1. Display linear Units, with access on the left panel. The selected unit applies across all measurements and displays, including Time Domain, and is saved with recordings and restored in playback.
  1. A Disconnect button for a quick exit.
  1. Spur Mitigation feature in Advanced Setting, off by default.
  1. Beta features for early adaptors:
  1. Field-strength mode (access from the Units field and require optionally an antenna-factor table) is available as a.
  1. Antenna System Configuration form. Settings are validated against the device’s frequency range and saved per device. They are applied only to the device with the matching serial number. Equalization settings can be changed during a live stream.

Enhancements

The following other change(s) were made:

  1. Removed thinkRF’s SXM IoT Node support, as the access is now available directly from the SXM Dashboard and the node’s Local Control Application.

  1. Faster power calculations, smoother data streaming, and IQ playback no longer slows down with multiple traces.
  1. The file browser now shows only recording (.data) files.
  2. Added a short buffer to the recording time, so each recording contains at least the full set duration.
  3. Minor UI updates to the top navigation bar and to demodulation’s input field related messages.
  4. Applied libtrf v1.9.2 with many improvements and fixes.
  5. Stability and performance improvements, as well as more reliable backend shutdown.

Known Issues and Limitations

The following are the known limitations or other issues present in these versions.

  1. When connecting to a remote device over VPN, users might experience some performance issue. In a near future release, MTU control with Spectraware for managing the network packet size will be provided.
  1. When running Spectraware Windows installer, a trusted software warning will be issued. Proceeds with the installation. The installer will be certified in the future release.
  1. RTSA devices don’t support simultaneous users, so only one instance of Spectraware can run at a time. The last user’s accessing the device will have the control and data capture. The previous Spectraware instance will go into an error state.
